Output
Hale, I updated briefs for Harbor & Pine, Quillwork Labs, and Tidewater Health in your knowledge base.
Harbor & Pine sent their August board pack yesterday through Google Workspace. Maya Calder flagged wholesale growth and inventory planning for the fourth quarter. Tidewater Health had an unreadable PDF attachment from Rui Banks, noted below.
Harbor & Pine brief update
Top asks:
- Introductions to regional retail buyers. Cal Brook is expanding wholesale outreach.
- Feedback on the Fall buying plan.
- Advice on warehouse staffing for holiday volume.
Open commitments:
- Your commitment: Connect Maya with cold weather apparel advisors by September 25.
- Harbor & Pine commitment: Maya to share final third quarter close numbers by October 5.
Financial snapshot (Harbor & Pine):
| Quarter | Revenue | Burn | Cash runway |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q4 2025 | $310k | $42k/mo | 14 mos |
| Q1 2026 | $285k | $45k/mo | 12 mos |
| Q2 2026 | $340k | $38k/mo | 11 mos |

Context and notes: Affinity records show active contacts with Maya Calder and Cal Brook. Recent notes from Fireflies capture the September board prep call. The wholesale pipeline holds $34,200 across Driftline Supply Co, Kestrel & Finch, and Saltmarsh General.
Flags:
- Tidewater Health: Could not open the board deck attachment sent by Rui Banks on September 16 due to an unsupported file format.
- Quillwork Labs: No new email updates or meeting notes in the past 14 days.
Automation steps. Your assistant follows these 5 steps each time it runs, using your connected email and calendar.
- 01
Each morning, keep a one-page brief on every portfolio company current.
- 02
Match updates in my email to the right company by sender domain, and read every attachment and linked document in investor updates and board materials: the real numbers live there, not in the email body.
- 03
Fold in my meeting notes.
- 04
Keep each brief in the same structure: top three asks, open commitments in both directions, a four-quarter snapshot of real financials, recent context, and sources.
- 05
Move anything older than six months to a history section, and flag a company whose attachment you couldn't open.
Adjust the automation in chat
Tell your assistant what to do differently and it sets up that version for you.
- Only update briefs when a new investor report or board deck arrives.
- Highlight any portfolio company whose runway drops below six months.
- Include recent conversation notes from Affinity in the context section.
Results arrive as a message from your assistant. Each run posts to your conversation with your assistant, and can email you too. The automation keeps a log in your knowledge base and reads it before each run to see what has changed.
Adjustable schedule
Runs every day at 07:00 by default. Pick another time when you add it, or ask in chat for a custom schedule.
Only useful reports
When nothing needs attention, the run says so in a line or stays quiet. When there are findings, you get them with a link to the full run.
What it does on its own
Updates briefs in your knowledge base on its own. Sends nothing. An automated run has no tool that sends, posts, shares, or deletes anything.
This automation reads your email and calendar. Connect Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 to Fieldwork. The automation uses whichever you connect. It also uses your CRM, files, meeting notes when connected.

Questions about this automation.
- How do I set up portfolio company briefs?
- Open your assistant on the Agents page in Fieldwork, find Portfolio company briefs in the job library, and select Add. If your email account or CRM is not connected yet, the setup card prompts you to connect it first. It starts on the suggested 7:00 AM daily schedule, which you can adjust when you add it.
- What does the automation do on its own versus waiting for me?
- It updates company briefs in your knowledge base on its own, without sending emails, posting messages, or modifying your calendar. You review the morning summary, open any unreadable attachments yourself, and handle follow-ups directly.
- Where do the daily updates arrive?
- The summary arrives as a message in your conversation with your assistant in Fieldwork, and can also be emailed to you. When no new updates or notes exist across your portfolio, it gives a brief confirmation or stays quiet.
- How does it extract information from board decks and updates?
- It reads investor reports and board attachments connected through Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, pulling metrics and commitments directly from the files. If a file cannot be read or parsed, your daily brief alerts you so you can review it.

No training on your data
Neither we nor our model providers train on your data. Inference runs with zero retention wherever the provider supports it.
Access
Agents only see what the person asking can see. Conversations, files, apps and connections stay private until shared, and admins have no way into conversations.
Encryption and isolation
Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Each user's code runs in its own microVM, and secrets reach models by name only.
Continuity
Continuous backups, replicated to a second region. Data is exported on request and deleted within 30 days of a contract's end.
